Dispute at Crowley council meeting leads to threat of $100M lawsuit

CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) — Crowley Alderman Vernon Martin has filed an ethics complaint against Crowley Mayor Pro Tem Sandy Marx and said he is suing both the City of Crowley and Marx for $100 million each.

The proposed legal actions follow an incident during a utility committee meeting where Martin claims Marx made a “throat-slashing gesture” toward him, which he perceived as a threat.

“Basically she got to talking and she looked again at me and done this, with an angry look on her face,” Martin said, referring to the gesture. “You’ll see it in the video. And what makes it bad is that she used the throat slash.”…
