Revamped Return Policy – Target Stores in Louisiana Make Changes

(KMDL-FM) At last check, we counted 16 different Target Store locations in Louisiana. Targets are located in all of the state’s major cities. You can find them in Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Greater New Orleans, Shreveport/Bossier City, Lake Charles, and Monroe. Every one of those Louisiana Target locations has changed its store return policy ahead of the holiday shopping season.

Many retailers adjust their store return policy each year around the holidays. As the volume of purchases grows, so does the volume of returns. Amazon just recently announced it was making sweeping changes to the way it handles the “many happy returns” of holiday shopping.

As prices grow higher and consumers become more selective in their purchases, you might be inclined to think that retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Costco have tightened up on store returns. The opposite actually appears to be true.

However, the “burden of proof,” also known as the receipt, has never been more important, so whatever you do and wherever you buy from, remember the lessons that Rusty the Bailiff in the Original People’s Courttaught us: keep those receipts.

In many ways, Target’s general refund/return policy has stayed the same, but there are changes in specific categories that we’ll list for you. But in general, at Target, they offer free returns on most new, unopened items within 90 days of purchase, and 365 days for Target-brand items with a receipt.

You will want to see the complete How to Shop and Save at Target This Holiday Season fact sheet for specific details on the policy, but here are the highlights that we felt would affect most of us and the way we shop.
