YOUNGSVILLE, La, (KLFY) — Hunter Henry, a young chef from Youngsville, has launched his own seasoning line, Uncle Hunter’s Seasoning, despite facing significant health challenges, including a heart transplant.
Hunter was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which required him to undergo three open heart surgeries before the age of two. His medical journey continued with a heart transplant and a stroke during surgery.
“They found out when I was young that I had a hearing problem, during my open-heart surgery,” Henry explained. “So, what I had to do was start wearing hearing aids. . And then when I was 12 years old, I started having problems with fluid retention, so I had to go on a no sodium diet. Then it got somewhat better when I managed to go on a low sodium. But then it got to the point where I needed my heart transplant. So, then I went and stayed at Texas Children’s Hospital for four and a half years. Finally got a heart and then I had a stroke when I went under the anesthesia for surgery.”…
