Harm Reduction Hotties offer free Thanksgiving meal in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, LA. (KLFY) — Lafayette organization, Harm Reduction Hotties, set to host a free communal Thanksgiving meal in Downtown Lafayette.

Harm Reduction Hotties Founder, Jay Brooks, organized a month long food drive after seeing how her community was impacted by the government shutdown and the temporary loss of SNAP benefits for recipients in Louisiana.

“So the loss of SNAP benefits and seeing the community that we’ve been serving already struggling and then it happening during Thanksgiving.” Brooks said. “I realized that there was going to be a hug demand for people to be fed on Thanksgiving. And this was a small way that I felt like we could help. I would just love to see more of this community support continue. The outpouring of support has been tremendous this holiday season, we’re way grateful for it and the community needs more of it more often…
