Colder Air Approaches as Rain Returns

We’ve got some cooler air moving in, but don’t get too comfortable with the dry conditions just yet.

Looking at the latest data, a significant change is on the horizon. By Saturday, we anticipate a robust system bringing widespread rain and potentially heavy downpours back into the region. Moisture levels are expected to rise significantly, setting the stage for prolonged showers and thunderstorms. There’s even a concern for excessive rainfall, especially for areas north of the immediate coast, with a Marginal Risk for flooding issued for much of Acadiana.

We’ll also need to keep an eye out for the possibility of severe weather, with damaging winds and even isolated tornadoes being the primary threats. Rainfall totals for the weekend are looking to be substantial, generally ranging from three-quarters of an inch to nearly two inches, with some areas potentially seeing even more, especially on Saturday…
