A new scholarship at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is set to honor the legacy of Zydeco legend Clifton Chenier. The Clifton Chenier Memorial Scholarship Fund was officially established with a $32,000 gift to UL. Grammy winner Chubby Carrier performed in honor of Chenier, marking the celebration. Sam Oliver from the Acadiana Center for the Arts remarked on Chenier’s impact. C.J. Chenier, the son of Clifton Chenier, attended the event and shared his thoughts.
