ABBEVILLE, La. (KLFY) — A man who was once one of Acadiana’s most wanted fugitives has escaped from the Vermilion Parish jail, authorities said.
Gavin Garnica, 23, of Abbeville, escaped Wednesday evening, according to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Eddie Langlinais.
“During regular bed checks conducted throughout the evening, corrections deputies observed what appeared to be Mr. Garnica asleep and fully covered in his assigned bunk,” Langlinais said. “Review of surveillance footage revealed that Mr. Garnica scaled the perimeter fence on the east side of the jail at approximately 11:15 p.m. on December 3rd before fleeing on foot.”…
