Louisiana man sentenced for role in $250K theft ring across multiple states

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Broussard man convicted of crimes tied to a multi-state theft ring was sentenced to nine years in federal prison.

Christopher Byerley, 45, was sentenced to 115 months after being convicted for conspiracy to transport a stolen motor vehicle; altering, removing and obliterating a vehicle identification number; possession of fifteen or more unauthorized access devices and possession of an unregistered silencer and being a prior convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

He was ordered to serve three years of supervised release after serving his prison term and ordered to pay $127,000 in restitution to the victims…
