Glass windows, pipes broken as Opelousas church vandalized, causing thousands in damage

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office are seeking those responsible for vandalizing St. Ann Catholic Church, where parish supporters have started a GoFundMe campaign for repairs.

Deputies were called to the church at 8348 Highway 190 on Nov. 29 where a church member went into the back hall of the church and noticed multiple stained glass windows had been broken from the outside of the building.

Additional damage included broken PVC plumbing pipes, a damaged electrical outlet, cracked concrete sewer lids, a broken spotlight at the front of the church, and cracked glass on a side door. The cost of repairs is estimated between $6,500 and $15,000. Friends and supporters of the church launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the church recover and install security upgrades…
