ACADIA PARISH, LA. (KLFY) — The LSU School of Veterinary Medicine recently reported an outbreak of equine herpesvirus in horses from Texas, prompting Acadia Parish to temporarily close the Rice Arena and cancel equine events as a precaution.
Although no cases of quine herpesvirus, also known as EHV or equine herpes myeloencephalopathy were reported in Acadia Parish, officials took precautionary measures to prevent potential exposure by closing the Rice Arena for two weeks to sanitize the area.
