Lafayette Parish schools says it’s cracking down on vaping in the new year

The Lafayette Parish School System is cracking down on vaping when students return to campus after winter break.

Starting Jan. 6, LPSS staff will randomly search classrooms and students’ property using existing weapons detection systems with adjusted sensitivity settings, district spokesperson Tracy Wirtz said in a news release.

Vaping devices, as well as other tobacco products, are prohibited from school campuses and buses. Students who are found with vaping products will face disciplinary consequences…
