New Iberia man accused of planning New Orleans terrorist attack ordered held in jail until trial

A New Iberia man accused of plotting a terrorist attack in New Orleans has been ordered to remain in jail until his trial.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Carole Whitehurst of the Western District of Louisiana in Lafayette on Thursday ordered federal officials to detain Micah Legnon, 28, a former U.S. Marine from New Iberia, who was arrested Dec. 12 and charged with threats in interstate commerce.

Based on the evidence submitted at the detention hearing, Whitehurst wrote, “The court finds that no condition or combination of conditions can reasonably assure the safety of the community (if Legnon were released), despite the testimony of the proposed third party custodian.”…
