Highland Baptist star runner Tyler Blissett signs with Army

Highland Baptist senior distance runner Tyler Blissett has accomplished everything available to a prep runner in his distinguished career, adding the final piece of the puzzle over the weekend when he announced that he will be continuing his athletic and academic career at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.

“Army was pretty much the number one spot,” Blissett said. “It always was. It’s more than just an athletic thing for me.”

Blissett established himself early as one of the state’s top distance runners and sustained that success throughout his high school career. In cross country, he won four consecutive LHSAA Division V state championships, finishing so far ahead this year that he was able to partake in a post-race drink before his closest competitor ever saw the finish line…
