Lafayette Family’s U-Haul with Christmas Gifts Stolen

A Lafayette family is asking for help after a U-Haul carrying all of their belongings, including their children’s Christmas presents, was stolen overnight from a hotel parking lot in Texas .

According to a Facebook post shared by Tim Credeur, a Lafayette business owner, MMA coach, and former UFC mixed martial artist, the theft happened while his family was traveling home from celebrating Christmas in Colorado.

They stopped for the night at a Courtyard Marriott off Interstate 40 in Amarillo when the trailer was taken.

Trailer captured on highway cameras after theft

Credeur said the stolen trailer is a 5×8 U-Haul with Florida license plate GGF383. Highway cameras reportedly captured the trailer heading north on Highway 335 outside Amarillo around 1:45 a.m.

Amarillo Police Department responded to the scene and opened an investigation. Credeur thanked officers for their quick response and professionalism.

“It’s just stuff” but heartbreak remains for the kids

While Credeur emphasized that his family is safe, he shared that the loss is especially hard on his children.

“It’s just stuff,” he wrote, adding that he is grateful his family was not harmed. Still, he admitted the situation has been heartbreaking for his kids, whose Christmas gifts were inside the stolen trailer…
