First Baptist Christian School in Lafayette welcomes middle, high students to new building

First Baptist Christian School students and teachers opened a late Christmas present on Monday — a new building for its middle and high schoolers in downtown Lafayette.

The newly renovated 16,500-square-foot facility, formerly the Davidson Meaux Law Office, sits across the lower school’s entrance on West Convent Street. The $5.5-million project took more than a year to complete and wrapped up Monday when students moved in.

“A lot of different partners have come alongside us to work on this and we’re very thankful for what God has done,” First Baptist Senior Pastor James Pritchard said during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday. “This is a God thing for sure. We’re excited about this building.”…
