LAFAYETTE, LA. (KLFY) — A fire that began in a Lafayette apartment complex causing six families to be displaced left a mother and her children having to escape by jumping from their second-story balcony.
According to fire officials, the fire was ignited when a resident discarded fireworks in a trash bin. The fire started in the laundry room and quickly spread to eight apartment units, endangering the lives of the residents. Fire officials confirmed that the incident left multiple families homeless and many now face uncertainty about their future.
