Despite an ongoing public corruption probe into the school system he runs, Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Francis Touchet was awarded a $65,000 raise and a contract extension through Dec. 31, 2029.
The raise bumps Touchet’s “minimum annual salary” to $300,000, according to his contract, which means he now makes close to what State Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley earns, $311,000. Touchet’s total potential compensation could be as much as $354,000, nearly seven times the recently raised salary for new teachers.
