Youngsville Police Chief accused of pulling critical billboards

The upcoming civil service appeal hearing relates to disciplinary actions against Youngsville Police Officer Captain John Davison, who was demoted after speaking out against alleged misconduct within the Police Department. Attorney James Sudduth, representing PALEO, stated that they are preparing a cease and desist letter to Broussard, citing the removal of the ads as an infringement on their right to free speech, aiming to inform the public about serious concerns regarding policing in the area.

Attorney Sudduth explained that the billboard ads were intended to highlight the concerns over potential corruption under Chief Broussard’s leadership. He noted, “We are preparing as we speak a cease and desist letter that we’re going to be sending to the chief to cease any further activities from stopping this group of speaking out on this issue of very important concern to the public.”

Sudduth further elaborated on the case of Captain Davison, who he said attempted to bring issues within the department to light. “There was an officer by the name of Davison who was involved with trying to bring these issues to light. He was involved with trying to do what he thought was lawful, correct, accurate, and his obligations under the law,” he stated, emphasizing Davison’s commitment to ethical practices…
