A surveillance video shared by City Bar Maurice is quickly spreading across social media, as the bar asks the public for help identifying a man accused of stealing a purse in broad daylight.

The video, posted Wednesday afternoon, January 14, shows a man wearing a white shirt seated at the bar. According to City Bar Maurice, the man pays for his beer, signs the receipt, then allegedly takes a purse that did not belong to him from a nearby chair. Footage appears to show him placing the purse under his shirt before calmly walking out of the bar.

Bar Takes Zero Tolerance Stance On Theft

City Bar Maurice made it clear in their Facebook post that theft will not be tolerated inside their business. The post included still images from the surveillance footage and a timeline of events, noting that a card used during the transaction reportedly showed the name “James Voorhies” around 4:40 p.m.

The bar encouraged the public to share the video, tag the individual if recognized, and urged the man to return the purse with all items still inside.
