A New Iberia, Louisianamother has been arrested following an incident at New Iberia Senior High School (NISH) in which she is accused of disguising herself as a student, gaining access to campus, and becoming involved in a physicalaltercation with a student.
Sabrina Silas, 37, was taken into custody by the New Iberia Police Department last week and booked into the Iberia Parish Jailoncharges of cruelty to a juvenile, unlawfuldisruption of the operation of a school, and disturbing the peace. Jail records indicate that Silas is no longer in custody as of Friday morning, Jan. 16, 2026.
The incident occurred last week Wednesday morning and stemmed from a reported ongoing conflict between Silas’ daughter and another student. According to accounts provided to local media, Silas allegedly entered the school during morning drop-off hours, bypassed campus security, and intervened during a hallwayfight involving her daughter.
