Louisiana’s Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival opens with local premiere

The 21st annual Cinema on the Bayou Film Festival will bring eight days of international cinema to Acadiana, opening tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026, with the U.S. premiere of R. Roussil, From the Ground Up, a 77-minute documentary celebrating the life and work of influential Quebec sculptor Robert Roussil.

Award-winning Montreal director Maxime-Claude L’Écuyer will attend the opening night screening, which will be followed by a Q&A session and a gala reception featuring the festival’s traditional smoked sausage, boudin and King Cake, along with a cash bar. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the film screening at 7 p.m.
