A weekend of rain and freezing temperatures starting tonight runs the risk of icy roads.

The Lafayette Consolidated Government is urging residents to take extreme caution or remain off the roadways from 8 p.m. tonight through early Monday afternoon due to the chance of icy roads, according to an LCG announcement.

Black ice can often go unnoticed by drivers and can form quickly on bridges, overpasses, shaded roadways, and less-traveled streets. The city is strongly encouraging drivers to stay off the road unless necessary and to complete essential errands before conditions worsen…
