Former LPSS construction director pleads not guilty to fraud-related charges

LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — A former employee with the Lafayette Parish School System was in court on Tuesday for an arraignment hearing.

Robert Gautreaux, 46, the former LPSS construction, maintenance, and facilities director, pleaded not guilty to filing false public records (7 counts), first-degree injuring public records (2 counts), and obstruction of justice – evidence tampering (2 counts).

He is accused of rigging bids on school projects. Despite the charges, Gautreaux has been demoted but continues to serve as a teacher within the district…
