Opelousas man faces drug, gun charges after search of Church Point home

CHURCH POINT, La. (NEWS 15) — An Opelousas man is facing drug and gun charges after the search of his Church Point home, according to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Donathan Thibodeaux, 39, is charged with possession with intent to distribute various drugs such as marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, hydrocodone, and amphetamine, six counts each of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled substances, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz reported that narcotics detectives were actively investigating Thibodeaux, who is a known convicted felon. Despite indicating that Thibodeaux lives on Park Avenue in Opelousas, he said the search warrant was obtained for Thibodeaux’s home on Duplechin Road in Church Point, where authorities seized around 288 grams of suspected cocaine, 22 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 732 grams of marijuana, 399 tablets of suspected ecstasy, five tablets of hydrocodone, and three amphetamine pills…
