Some business owners opposed to economic development district in Acadia Parish

Leaders in Acadia Parish could walk could potentially eliminate portions of a sale and use tax that sparked controversy at a recent committee meeting.

First implemented in early 2023, the 2% sales and use tax and 2% hotel occupancy tax were levied on businesses located inside the Acadia Parish Economic Development District 1, which includes areas located along the Interstate 10 corridor to west of Crowley, as well as areas on the outer edges of city limits.
