LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Dexter Broussard Jr. pled guilty to cruelty to a juvenile on Monday and was sentenced to four years of hard labor with credit for time served. The sentence also includes three years of probation for the abuse of a young boy six years ago.
The victim’s mother, Danaizhia Poullard, spent six years fighting for the conviction and believes that justice has not been served. According to court records, Broussard admitted to the charge a day after Poullard shared her emotional history of the case on social media.
The legal proceedings followed an investigation into injuries Poullard discovered on her son. She described the physical state of the child’s head, noting that he had bald patches that looked as though his hair had been waxed off.
