DDA appeals district court ruling on turning former Handy Stop Market into condo complex

LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) in Lafayette decided to appeal a district court ruling concerning a zoning dispute. The conflict involves a building in the 400 block of Jefferson Street, previously home to the Handy Stop Market and Cafe.

The zoning board approved demolishing the building to construct a 21-unit condominium complex, a decision opposed by the DDA.
