Breaux Bridge man arrested on Bourbon St. for alleged illegal gun, drug possession during Mardi Gras

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, in coordination with the Louisiana State Police, arrested a man Tuesday on Bourbon Street for alleged illegal firearm and drug possession.

Agents arrested 23-year-old Talaska Demouchet, of Breaux Bridge, and booked him into the Orleans Parish Jail on multiple charges: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a machine gun, possession of marijuana, negligent carrying of a firearm, violating the concealed carry law, and illegal carrying of weapons while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, agents on patrol in the 500 block of Bourbon Street observed Demouchet smoking marijuana. When they made contact, agents said they found 22.6 grams of suspected marijuana, a 9 mm pistol and 33 9 mm bullets in his possession…
