Opelousas ups surveillance to curb crime, boost economy

OPELOUSAS, LA. (KLFY) — The City of Opelousas will soon install new security cameras throughout the community to enhance public safety.

The project is funded through a partnership with the Opelousas Downtown Development District after a formal request was made by the Opelousas Police Department for increased surveillance within the downtown corridor. The move builds on previous infrastructure improvements, including security cameras and LED lighting recently installed along Interstate 49 and at the city’s entryway.
