LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Thousands of runners and spectators are expected to gather in Lafayette this weekend as the Zydeco Marathon, the city’s largest annual running event, returns Sunday, March 8.
According to the roadway permit issued for the event, closures may remain in place for up to six hours, meaning traffic disruptions could last until approximately 1 p.m., depending on runner progress and how quickly roadways are cleared.
Race weekend festivities will begin Saturday, March 7, with a half marathon and related events primarily centered around the Downtown Lafayette area.
