After nearly a week in the hospital following a crash in Lafayette, Julia Steed woke up and told her mother, “Mom, I’m paralyzed. I can’t feel my feet.”
Doctors later confirmed Steed had suffered permanent paralysis from the waist down, along with broken bones and limited control of her arms and hands.
“I worry that when she comes home, she’ll realize she can’t do the things she used to and it’s going to be hard to see that,” said Elizabeth Steed, Steed’s sister. “But we’re getting through it.”…
