Louisiana man allegedly sets fire to girlfriend’s home; charged with arson

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A Lafayette man was arrested after allegedly barricading himself in his girlfriend’s home and setting fire to it, authorities said.

Byron Mobley, 39, of Lafayette, is charged with simple arson, aggravated battery of a dating partner, possession of Schedule I and Schedule II narcotics, and cruelty to animals. He also had two outstanding arrest warrants from Florida.

Lafayette Police responded Wednesday to a residence in the 300 block of Cooper Drive to a report of arson. The complainant said her boyfriend was barricaded inside the home, damaging property and starting fires…
