ERATH, La. (KLFY) — A leadership change within the Erath Volunteer Fire Department is generating controversy, as questions arise over who has the authority to select the department’s fire chief and how that decision should be made.
The tension follows a recent vote by the Erath City Council to appoint a new fire chief, a decision that overrides a prior internal vote conducted by members of the volunteer fire department.
