OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) – An 18-year-old Opelousas man faces 10 felony charges after an investigation linked him to several bomb threats at a local high school. Lyam Garcia was arrested by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office on five counts of terrorizing and five counts of communicating false information of a planned bombing on school property.
Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz said the charges involve five acts of terrorism at the same school beginning on Jan. 16, 2026. Investigators established probable cause for the arrest after School Resource Officers examined Garcia’s prior status as a person of interest in a 2023 case.
School Resource Officers began investigating a recent bomb threat at an area high school before reviewing records from a similar incident in 2023.
