LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — A long-awaited project in downtown Lafayette is moving closer to reality. Construction is set to begin soon on the Louisiana Music Museum.
Lafayette tourism officials reported progress in fundraising efforts for the project, located on Vermilion Street. Once completed, the museum will celebrate Louisiana’s rich musical heritage, highlighting genres such as blues, jazz, funk, Cajun, and zydeco music. It will also host live performances and educational tours.
“We’re rounding out our Capital Campaign, hitting some key goals in fundraising,” Sam Oliver, executive director of the Acadiana Center for the Arts, said. “This is a $10 million project. Once we hit our next milestone, we’ll actually be able to begin construction, which is extremely exciting.”…
