YOUNGSVILLE, La. (NEWS 15) — Homeowners in Youngsville, Lafayette Parish’s fastest-growing community, are set to receive a break on their flood insurance starting April 1. The change comes as a result of drainage improvements following the historic flood of 2016.
Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter announced that residents with flood insurance policies could see a significant reduction in premiums. The city has been accepted into the National Flood Insurance Program’s Community Rating System, which allows for the discount.
“Youngsville policy holders are going to receive a 10% discount,” Mayor Ken Ritter said. “FEMA has recognized that Youngsville has taken a more proactive step in exceeding minimum requirements for manning flood plans. So, we are really excited by that. This is a great step. It’s a result of proactive planning across the board.”…
