Jaguars Post Strong Showing at Louisiana Classic

LAFAYETTE, La. — The Southern University track and field team turned in a strong showing at the Louisiana Classic, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and top-eight performances across both track and field events.

On the track, Southern was led by standout efforts in the middle-distance events. Marcus Delcy captured a first-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.96, while freshman Keeton Johnson followed with an impressive third-place finish at 1:54.87. In the hurdles, Christon Washington delivered a pair of strong performances, placing third in the 110-meter hurdles (14.29) and adding another third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (55.48).

The women’s side saw solid sprint and hurdle performances, as Taylor Hankton claimed third in the 100-meter hurdles (14.40), while Demetria Harris secured an eighth-place finish (14.83).
