Eye on Scams: Beware renters, scammers listing occupied homes

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)– A local woman shared her experience of her home being listed for rent on Facebook, and she found out when a potential renter showed up at her front door.

The interested renter contacted the alleged homeowner through a Facebook listing. They exchanged numbers and started texting.

The con-artist told the victim they had to pay a $100 application fee that could potentially be refunded if the met the requirements. However, the scammer never told them what those requirements were…
