Creswell Middle Students potentially moving to Opelousas Junior High Campus

OPELOUSAS, LA. (KLFY) — St. Landry Parish School Board Superintendent Milton Batiste proposed a plan this week to move Creswell Middle School students to the Opelousas Junior High School campus for the upcoming school year. The recommendation aims to utilize the junior high property, which is scheduled to become vacant.

The proposal follows a previous announcement that Opelousas Junior High students will merge into Opelousas High School next year. Under the new plan, fifth and sixth graders currently attending Creswell Middle would relocate to the junior high site to take advantage of more classrooms and improved facilities.

The Opelousas Junior High campus offers several amenities that are not currently available at the Creswell Middle facility. These resources include additional classrooms and a gymnasium. Superintendent Batiste described the campus as one of the premier district properties in the area…
