Lafayette Parish School Board member resigns after self-checkout shoplifting citation

Lafayette Parish School Board member Chad Desormeaux has resigned after he was cited Monday for shoplifting at a grocery store.

The school system issued a statement Wednesday morning saying the District 2 board member “has submitted his resignation to the Louisiana Secretary of State, effective immediately.”

Desormeaux was given a misdemeanor summons for shoplifting from Super One Foods in Carencro, according to Carencro Police Chief David Anderson. He was allegedly caught on camera at a self check-out station not scanning several grocery items…
