Jeff Davis Parish is moving closer to implementing its first parish-wide animal shelter ordinance as officials prepare for the opening of the new $2.1 million facility.
“We have to have them developed and in place prior to opening the animal shelter,” Police Juror and Ordinance Committee Chairperson Kori Myers said.
Parish Administrator Ben Boudreaux is currently drafting guidelines for animal handling and shelter operations.
“I think these ordinances still are missing a lot of detailed items, but I just wanted to kind of hit up some of the fundamental things that I think the rest of the ordinances are going to be critical of,” Boudreaux recently told police jurors in presenting draft copies of the ordinances…
