But the late Anthony Bourdain managed to do it when he visited, so I am certain at sometime in your life, you’ll dine alone as well. Let’s just say Anthony “Loved that Chicken from Popeyes.” No, not the sailor, the other Popeyes, the one without the spinach, where everything is fried.
With modern delivery services such as Uber Eats and DoorDash, the concept of walking into a restaurant, claiming a table, and then eating a meal by yourself seems a bit far-fetched, but now and then, you find yourself in need of a meal, you don’t have time for delivery, and it’s just you.
Why Is Dining Alone Considered to Be Socially Awkward?
I know at places like Waffle House, they make solo dining less awkward because they only allow solo diners to sit at the counter instead of taking up booth space. I guess in a lot of restaurants where there is a bar, you could probably do the same thing and not feel as awkward. Anthony Bourdain was a big fan of Waffle House, too.
But here’s the truth: no one is looking at you sitting by yourself. Okay, if you’re a single lady at the bar, you might be bothered by some chatty fellows, but for the most part, if you keep to yourself, you will be left alone…
