UL Lafayette alum turned ambassador says Louisiana roots shaped global career

Talal Alrahbi’s journey in Louisiana began in 1996 when he arrived as a student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Today, despite a global career as Oman’s ambassador to the United States, he said the state has never felt far away.

Alrahbi, who was honored by the university with the Outstanding International Alumni Award on Thursday, recalled the kindness from the community as the reason he chose to remain at UL Lafayette during his studies.
