Lafayette man accused of attempted murder after stabbing his caretaker with kitchen knife, authorities say

LAFAYETTE, La. (KPLC) – A Lafayette man is accused of attempted murder after stabbing his caretaker over the weekend, according to authorities.

Jarrod Degroat, 56, faces a count of attempted second-degree murder.

Around 8:30 a.m. on April 18, the caretaker was at Degroat’s home on North Domingue Avenue when, for unknown reasons, Degroat grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim was taken to a hospital where she was treated and released, LPSO said…
