The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a flash flood warning until 4:15 p.m. for southern Lafayette Parish, west-central St. Martin Parish and northern Vermilion Parish.
At about 1:08 p.m. Saturday, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area, according to NWS. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain had already fallen, with an additional 1 to 2 inches possible. Officials said flash flooding was ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
