ST LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) –An Opelousas family says what was supposed to be a time of grief and closure turned into shock and confusion after they say they learned their mother had not been buried when they believed she had been.
According to a petition filed in St. Landry Parish, Dorothy Dell Jones passed away on January 6, 2025. The lawsuit states the family met with Ford and Joseph Funeral Home the following day, made funeral arrangements and paid for services in full.
The family says funeral services for Jones were held January 17, and they believed she had been buried that same day. However, family members say months of questions surrounding a missing headstone eventually led to a phone call they claim changed everything…
