TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida tax collectors voiced their frustration with the state’s “Orion” system for DMV services on Wednesday due to continuous errors impacting people’s ability to get licenses renewed and other services.
A statement from Hillsborough County Tax Collector Nancy Millan said that when the FLHSMV experiences these outages, tax collectors across the state are unable to complete the transactions necessary to do certain functions.

“Every day, our customers come to us with real needs — renewing a driver license, registering a vehicle, and handling matters that are important to their daily lives,” Millan said. “These systems and their reliability are outside the control of local offices, yet our employees are the ones standing face-to-face with frustrated customers while having little information to provide beyond notices that the state is troubleshooting the issue and updates will come when available.”
