WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — A 19-year-old was arrested Sunday evening after a stolen Bluetooth speaker automatically paired with its owner’s phone, pointing police directly to the suspect’s house.
Winter Haven police officers were called to a residence on Lakeside Landings Boulevard around 7:30 p.m. on August 16, 2026. Earlier that afternoon, a worker noticed that his $630 speaker was missing from the bed of his work truck at a construction site along Lucerne Park Road.
Instead of waiting around, the victim drove through a nearby neighborhood to see if the speaker was close enough to connect to his smartphone. As he drove past one particular house, the connection pinged. The owner quickly played music from his phone and immediately heard his songs blasting from inside the home.
A young man standing in the yard, later identified by police as Jesus Luciano Velazquez, hurried inside when he saw the truck stop. The victim stayed in his vehicle and called 911…
