A traffic stop in Plant City on August 26 that started with nine ounces of cocaine in a car ended with deputies pulling 16.2 pounds of cocaine, a pound of methamphetamine, five firearms, three illegal automatic conversion devices, two bump-fire stocks, and $79,510 in cash out of a nearby home. The man now facing that mountain of evidence, 33-year-old Lino Moctezuma Rosas, was booked on a list of charges that includes armed trafficking in cocaine, armed trafficking in amphetamine, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
According to a post from Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, the Sheriff’s Office Strategic Gun Intelligence Unit conducted the traffic stop that day in Plant City and found the nine ounces of cocaine in the vehicle. That discovery gave detectives cause to obtain a search warrant for Rosas’s residence, which they executed the same day, according to the sheriff’s account. The unit is the same specialized team recently named Task Force of the Year by the Tampa Bay Area Chiefs of Police Foundation, an honor tied to more than 100 violent-offender arrests and 132 illegal firearms seized since the unit launched in 2025, as reported by The Laker/Lutz News.

What Detectives Say They Found Inside the Home
Once inside the residence, detectives recovered 16.2 pounds of cocaine and one pound of methamphetamine, along with the cash and firearms. Among the five guns recovered were a Kel-Tec submachine gun and an AK-platform rifle, per the sheriff’s post.
