Man faces potential death penalty after killing coworkers in Polk County

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Polk County jury must decide if a 44-year-old electrician who killed his coworkers in their sleep deserves to live.

The state is seeking the death penalty for Shaun Runyon who was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder that happened when they were all in Lakeland for a job back in 2021.

“We have lost all future conversations, visits, celebrations and ordinary moments that we should have shared with him,” wrote Greg Dolezal’s mother in a victim impact statement.

Runyon reportedly stormed off their job site after an argument, returning to their shared rental hours later with a knife and baseball bat after everyone went to sleep…
